Reminds me of a folksy cartoon(?) I saw once. An image of an old man sitting under a tree on a riverbank and holding a homemade fishing pole, line dangling in the water. Captioned "Sometimes I sets and thinks, and sometimes I jes sets". Which may have nothing at all to do with what you wrote. :)
If this is Janet Kagan you're talking about, author of *goes and checks* Uhura's Song, I've noticed that name credited as script editor on Will and Grace...might not be the same one, of course.
