Today is the day we do horrible things to [livejournal.com profile] cadhla's masterpiece. As if what [livejournal.com profile] braider did to it wasn't enough, [livejournal.com profile] kitanzi got my head wrapped around this possibility, and I couldn't resist:

Ordinary Tree
TTTO: "Ordinary Day" by Great Big Sea
Inspired by "Sycamore Tree" by Seanan McGuire

Saw your name on the tree, your initials surround mine
I wonder who carved them there for me to find, oh-oh.
It's a lie, but it's also a fact
I love you, but I can't come back
'Cause I must fly...

And I say....Way-hey-hey, I've just got to fly away
And you're not going to call me home
And the end of the day, I know I must fly on my own

I did all that I could to keep you from dying
And you'll never know why I can't keep from crying
But you fit in this small town world
And I can't be a small town girl
No, I must fly...

Way-hey-hey, I've just got to fly away
And you're not going to call me home
And the end of the day, I know I must fly on my own

We each paid our dues and we each played our parts
But there's no second chances, there's no second starts, oh no
And you're not coming back through my door
But I know now who this song is for
And I must fly...

Way-hey-hey, I've just got to fly away
And you're not going to call me home
And the end of the day, I know I must fly on my own

Saw your name on the tree, your initials surround mine....

Oh, jeez, man...like I need two versions of this song duking it out to see which one gets to be stuck in my head next?!?!

(That would be a vote of approval, in case that wasn't clear :))

Have you actually seen Braider's parody yet? They proliferate!

Heeeeee!

I have, actually; I just realized that should have been -three- versions. I swear, one more, and they can just play tag-team wrestling in there.

I didn't link to hers 'cause she friend-locked it. I am seriously not breathing from the giggling.

I figure it's a sure sign of an excellent earworm! (I do love the whole CD, but that was the biggest single earworm, I think. I don't know how long it may take to reset my braaaain... hey, if zombies eat my brain while that's stuck in it, does it get stuck in THEIR heads?)

Now I picture hordes of the living dead, flesh dripping from their bones, clawing at the doors as they come after the still living...and mumbling about Harry Marshall and Sarah Tapper as they do it.

I think that just made zombies even more horrifying.

Possibly so, but can you think of a more fitting tribute for Cadhla than to have shambling, horrific zombies mumbling her lyrics incessantly? This may be "earworm" taken slightly too literally....

Not so much, no :) Which just means you -and- Rob both win today. Congratulations!
