I love it, I just no longer foist it on people because they look at me funny and don't get around to reading it. It may come from my efforts to explain the general theme. Good luck if you ever attempt it.

I gave it away as a birthday present once, not sure if it was ever read, though.

I have had great success giving it to people from New York City or the Hudson River Valley. Almost none giving it to anyone else.

The Unicorn Sonata?
No, but it is by the same author - The Unicorn Sonata is a very recent book - he didn't write about unicorns again for almost 20 years, and then said he was now ready to re-visit them, and out of that came that sweet book and a truly wonderful story called "Professor Gottesman and the Indian Rhinoceros" - which I even have on my computer, so if anyone wants to read it I can send it over.

At last, a quiz I can answer!

1. What book is in your bathroom?

None, I don't spend enough time there when I'm not actively doing something (like washing; if I soak in the bath then I want to doze and not get a book wet.

2. What book is in your purse/backpack?

Does a briefcase count? If so then Diane Duane's "Starrise at Corrivale".

3. What book is on your bedside table?
The next two in the series.

4. What was the last book you lent someone?
"A Random Walk in Science".

5. What was the last book you lent out that someone brought back to
Hmm, I think David Weber's "The War God's Own".

6. What book do you have loaner copies of, solely for the purpose of
foisting it on unsuspecting friends and relatives?

Many copies of "Stranger in a Strange Land" (Heinlein), an extra copy of
"Silverlock" (John Myers Myers).

Gah. Of all the authors mentioned in the entry and the comments, I've only heard
of four - LMB, D*ane D*ane, RAH and Darby Conley. Generation gap? Dancing to a
different beat? (Not that I dance).

2. What book is in your purse/backpack?

Same answer as Autographed Doc, but... there was a delightful lass at the last
Contata who carried her paperback around tucked in the back of her waistband.
How about in a canvas bag? Lots of fen use those, and my Chosen One always
has a couple of books in it.

0. None of the questions actually asked what book(s) you're currently reading. Me?
Roberta Rogow's "FutureSpeak - A Fan's Guide To The Language Of Science Fiction".

Don't feel bad, I'm older than most of those in this thread (I'm old enough to be the father of some <g>) and there are several I haven't heard of either (including Darby Conley) and I've only read one LMB.

As regards "currently reading" -- well, none, I'm typing in LJ! But with a loose definition of 'currently', either the one beside the bed or the one in the bag/pack/bathroom would seem logical (the one which was in my briefcase went up to beside my bed and is now back on the shelf, and the one next in the series which is beside my bed will be in the briefcase on Monday if I don't finish it by then, unless I decide to put a different book in my briefcase).

Confused? You will be...

Currently? Just finsihed working my through the first four collections of Alison Bechdel's comic strip "Dykes to Watch Out For". I'm about to get back immersed into some of the Pratchett I bought over in the UK.

Love,

"Don't feel bad, I'm older than most of those in this thread (I'm old enough to be the

Hee hee. Tell me about it. I'm not quite old enough to be a grandparent to some of
these young uns, but... [G]

"and there are several I haven't heard of either (including Darby Conley) and I've only
read one LMB."

Darby Conley (another young un) is the creator of the "Get Fuzzy" comic strip. Yay,
Satchel! Go, Mr. Fungo! (This from someone who's been a long time companion to cats
and who gives ferrets the evil eye).

Think I've read two LMBs, back in the late '80s.

"Confused? You will be..."

I always keep my copy of The Complete Works Of Confusedus by my side.
